Aug 27-Sep 4  Americas Masters Games, Jack Poole Plaza, 1055 Canada Place.  Celebration site with free entertainment: 12-10pm daily.  Opening ceremonies Aug 27, 6-9:30pm.  All sport events are free for spectators and take place across Vancouver.

Aug 30 – Sep 5  Façade Festival 2016, Vancouver Art Gallery (Robson side), 8pm-midnight.  Burrard Arts Foundation, Microsoft, and the VAG present 5 contemporary BC artists’ 3-D projection mapping.

to Sep 10  Free Tours of the Orpheum, a designated National Heritage Site.  90-min guided tours of this historic concert hall starts at 11am.  Unfortunately, as of Aug 25, spots are only available for Sep 6 and Sep 8.  Reserve at 604-665-3047.  Note: link has error stating tours end Sep 30.

Sep 3   Richmond World Festival, 11am-10pm, Minoru Park, Richmond.  Named Canada’s Most Outstanding Event for 2015:

Sep 3-5  TaiwanFest, free and ticketed events at various downtown Vancouver locations:

Sep 4  Fiesta Mexicana, Roundhouse Community Centre, Vancouver, 12-5 pm.  Come celebrate Mexico’s Independence Day:

Sep 7 Music in the Park, 12-5pm, Cleveland Dam, Capilano Regional Park

Sep 9  Kerrisdale Outdoor Movie Night, Elm Park (if raining, moved to Sat):

Sep 10  Day at the Farm, Westham Island Herb Farm, Ladner, 10 am-4 pm. Working farm so no dogs allowed. Free, but non-perishable food items greatly appreciated. “One of the most exciting agricultural fairs in the Lower Mainland because it provides visitors the opportunity to connect with real farms, real farmers, and real food.”

Sep 10  Zombiewalk, Vancouver Art Gallery (Robson side), 4 pm sharp!  Special effects artists will be at VAG 12:30-3:30 pm.  First come, first serve. Zombies will be shuffling down Denman and arriving at English Bay about 6pm.

Sep 10  Wesbrook Village Festival, UBC, 11 am-4 pm.  Live entertainment, free BBQ, Kids Zone, sidewalk sales, etc.

Sep 11  Coho Festival, Ambleside Park, West Vancouver, 11 am-6 pm. This is a zero waste event. Stewardship Zone exhibitors, Kids Zone, Salmon BBQ, Squamish Nation artisans:

Sep 17  UBC Homecoming.  Thunderbird vs Regina football game requires a fee, but there’s a free pancake brunch 9:30am-1pm and a free 10am-5pm attractions pass (for MOA, Beaty Biodiversity Museum, UBC Botanical Garden, etc.).  Separate advance registration required for free brunch and attractions pass:

Sep 21-25  Word Vancouver, Library Square.  Largest literary event in BC.  Main event on Sunday at Library Square.

Sep 21-25  Hermès at Work Exhibition, 11 am-7 pm, Jack Poole Plaza, 1055 Canada Place, Vancouver.  Special opportunity to watch Hermès artisans from France craft silk scarves, handbags, saddles, fine jewellery, and watches.

Sep 23-24 Riverfest, Fraser River Discovery Centre, 11 am-4 pm, 788 Quayside Drive , New Westminster.  Celebrating BC & World Rivers Day.
