June 2016

Big “oops”!  I made a mistake publicizing that Stanley Park was having Sunday Night Concerts until Aug with tributes to Neil Diamond, Fleetwood Mac, etc.   Pierre and I were eager to attend the Beatles tribute today (June 12).  We paid for 3 hours of parking and proceeded to look for the newly built Beveridge Pavilion Annex “by the Rose Garden”.  After half an hour of traipsing around and asking baffled Park employees where this pavilion was, it occurred to me that there must be another Stanley Park with a Rose Garden. The “Beatles” were performing at Stanley Park in Westfield, Massachusetts!  So if you’re ever on stanleypark.org, head on over to stanleypark.ca!!

May 28   French Treasure Hunt: film en ville, meet at Canada Place 6pm, $5/person, free for members of Vancouver en français.  In teams of 2-4, explore downtown Vancouver in search of clues for 5 movies shot in Vancouver.  Game designed for children and adults in French and English.  3 friends and I did the Guess Who? game with this group four years back down at Granville Island: 2 of us spoke French and the other 2 didn’t.  It was a lot of fun running around Granville Island looking for characters dressed up as famous Canadians and trying to guess who they were from their clues.  The less clues you needed to guess who they were, the more points you received.  If I remember correctly, you also got points for how fast you finished the hunt/game.  FYI, this is the 2nd year they’re doing film en ville:  http://www.vancouverenfrancais.ca/th_event/film-en-ville2/
